Genetically Engineered Soybeans

Over the past two years we have seen a rapid increase in the planting of genetically engineered soybeans.

Genetically modified soybeans can help to increase the world food supply. In addition , these plants can be developed to be resistant to pests and diseases, to enhance nutrient quality, to offer changes in flavor characteristics and to elevate the levels of desirable phytochemicals.

Some consumers, in particular vegetarians and environmentalists, choose produce that has been organically grown. There is some concern as to the safety of eating foods that have been manipulated by science.
